Marble Cape Town Adds Seven Colours to Lavish Sunday Brunch

Marble Seven Colour Sundays Brunch

Looking for the most lavish brunch in town? Head to Marble. Marble Cape Town is adding even more colour to winter with the launch of its Seven Colour Sundays Brunch. The landmark rooftop dining destination at the V&A Waterfront has become known as the go-to destination for exceptional concept events in Cape Town. This new brunch experience is no exception.

Thanks to the roaring flames of Marble’s signature open fire, winter weekends are warmer than ever. Launched on Sunday, 5 July, the exciting new Seven Colour Sundays Brunch experience brings a vibrant celebration of food, music and family to the harbour-front restaurant.

Inspired by the beloved South African tradition of “7 Colours” (the joyful, colourful plates that define Sunday meals across the country), Marble’s Seven Colour Sundays Brunch celebrates local flavour and culture, elevated with Marble’s signature finesse.

“Seven Colour Sundays Brunch is our way of taking a much-loved South African food tradition and expressing it through the Marble lens — cooking with fire, celebrating bold flavour, and, here in Cape Town, drawing on the incredible produce and sense of place that make the local food culture so special,” says Chef David Higgs.

The series runs every Sunday from 5 July to 16 August, each themed around a different colour.

“We’ve taken everything people love about Seven Colour Sundays and reimagined it for brunch — lighter, brighter and perfectly suited to long, lazy winter days at the Waterfront,” says head chef Matt van Niekerk. “It’s still the flavours South Africans know, but with a fresh energy, a little luxury and our Marble twist.”

Marble Cape Town has also partnered with the V&A Waterfront’s creative retail marketplace, The Watershed, to profile local artisans in their campaign for the brunch series. Products by these makers are featured throughout the campaign creative to help bring each of the seven colours to life, and on the relevant Sundays, guests can view and purchase their products at Marble.

The Seven Colour Sundays Brunch menu is designed for sharing, celebration and comfort, beginning with an individual arrival canapé followed by three shared chef’s snacks. Guests then enjoy a generous shared main course with accompanying sides, before choosing between two individual desserts. The experience concludes with a final sweet treat to round off the meal. Dietaries and allergies are accommodated with care.

There were so many culinary highlights from our brunch experience. I was particularly enamored with the Josper-baked Oyster, with prawn butter and bone marrow salsa as well as the Confit Duck, with brie and tomato chutney on a crisp waffle, served as the Chef’s snacks. The Whole Roasted Sirloin of Beef, with beef jus and chimichurri served as part of the shared main course was another stand-out dish.

The main course was accompanied by a generous collection of sides with an honourable mention going to the moreish Beef-fat Roasted Potatoes. Because what would Sunday brunch be without beef and roast potatoes?

The Marble Malva Pudding dessert was the obvious choice for me with Apricot gel, speculoos ice cream, and Amarula anglaise. This dessert is one of the best examples of a Malva Pudding I’ve ever had. The speculoos ice cream and Amarula anglaise are genius flavour combinations, resulting in a beautifully balanced dessert; not too sweet with a spongy, warm, gooey center.

In addition to the delightful food spread, each guest also receives a complimentary glass of Colmant MCC Brut on arrival. Plus, as added value, each couple receives a tasting voucher to visit Colmant (valued at R195) — a special touch to extend the experience beyond brunch.
