Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream Opens New Stores in Hyde Park & Parkhurst!

The Joburg foodie scene just got a little bit sweeter thanks to Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream. Following great success at their stores in Rosebank and Sandton, the much loved local ice cream producers have recently opened two more stores in Hyde Park and Parkhurst and they’re an absolute must-visit. Paul’s journey into the mastery of ice-cream started when he received an ice cream machine as a birthday present. From humble beginnings of making just 1-litre of ice cream a day to owning 4 ice cream stores in Johannesburg, Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream has grown in leaps and bounds of the past few years. Fans of the brand know Paul’s for their experimental and often exotic and indulgent flavours and you can be sure the new stores will be serving up something new and exciting.
If you’ve been to a Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream store before then you’ll know it’s quite an experience but the two new additions to the Paul’s family will offer ice cream lovers a bigger menu than their other two stores with more of a dessert cafe feel. Each store also offers a featured product that isn’t available anywhere else. The first new store at Hyde Park Corner opened its doors over a month ago and is located in the mall next to the cinema complex. We don’t have to tell you that the movies and ice cream go together like copy and paste so make sure you pop into the store the next time you book your seat at the movies. The store’s design was inspired by local designer and illustrator, Karabo Poppy whose artwork is the centrepiece of the store.

When you visit the funky new Hype Park store don’t forget to try the store’s signature Paul’s handmade filled cone – a handmade waffle cone coated white and milk chocolate inside, filled with a sauce or marshmallow fluff at the bottom, topped with a scoop of ice-cream and finished off with two different toppings or sauces. Choose from a selection of 3 different handmade filled cone flavour options or create your own flavour combinations.
As fo the new Parkhurst store, this fun store on the popular 4th Avenue was inspired by the work of local designer and illustrator, Helga Malan who took the story of Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream from when Paul started making ice-cream in his mom’s kitchen to where the brand is today and created a series of illustrations which form part of a wallpaper that stretches across the store.

Visiting the Parkhurst store is all about indulging so make sure you try the morish Paul’s ice-cream pies when visiting this spot. The decadent pies are available in 3 different flavours including Classic (an ice-cream version of classic pies like apple pie, pecan etc), Decadent 4th Avenue (an ode to the street the store is located on consisting of a chocolate biscuit base, chocolate ice-cream, and chocolate sauce), and the Flavour of the Month (which will change according to the Paul’s flavour of the month.
