UberEATS Arrives in South Africa!

Just when you thought that Uber couldn’t get any better they’ve just announced that you’re now delivering food as well! UberEATS was officially launched in Johannesburg last week, Thursday 29 September, and is already causing quite a stir in South Africa as locals discover the new, reliable way to order tasty meals on the fly. The on-demand food delivery app powered by Uber is just as easy and convenient to use as the rides app people have come to know and love and we’re quite sure it’s only a matter of time before UberEATS transforms the food industry in South Africa.

The great thing about UberEATS is that they partner with only the best local restaurants to get customers the food they want, delivered faster. So there are no dodgy spots to sort through – just well-known, vetted suppliers with a reputation for great eats and treats. And, because their main aim is to get food to “eaters” in the shortest amount of time, you can be sure that won’t be waiting an hour or more to get your food when you’re simply ravenous. The app also allows for users to customise their orders to their taste with little to no hassle at all. No onions? No worries, just make a note using the app and your order will be changed accordingly.

For now, UberEATS is only available in in northern Johannesburg from 07:00 – 22:00 daily but there are plans to roll out to the rest of Joburg and the rest of South Africa soon. At launch, UberEATS already offers some delicious choices, including meals from the likes of Casalottis, Momo Baohaus, Krunch, Fishmonger and Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream. As for the drivers, or ‘couriers’, UberEATS has chosen some of the best Uber drivers in Joburg to take on the mammoth task. Eaters using the app can rate their courier as well as the restaurant, by giving them a “thumbs up”, or “thumbs down”, to ensure service stays excellent.
