Drinking that amount of water can be a challenge when there are so many other delicious drinks out there but it’s important to meet the challenge! Whether you’re trying to lose weight or simply want to look and feel healthier, one of the best ways to rid your body of harmful toxins and keep your organs healthy is to drink water. One of the easiest ways to stay motivated to drink up is to infuse your water with fruits and vegetables – not only will you want to keep sipping but you will also get all sorts of other added health benefits from the fruits and veggies you add. To get you started on your infused water journey, here are 10 delicious detox water recipes you need to try.
1. Peppermint & Grapefruit Water
This delicious combo will help you clean out your kidneys, aid in digestion, reduce bloating, improve your skin complexion and stay hydrated. Just mix a jug of purified or tap water with 1/2 lemon (sliced), 1/2 grapefruit (sliced), 1 cup of cucumber (with peel, sliced), 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger and a handful of fresh peppermint leaves. Cover with ice and refrigerate for an hour or more before drinking to allow the flavours to infuse.
Note: You can also add a 1/2 orange (sliced) or substitute the lemon for orange.
2. Blueberry & Orange Water
This tasty combo is packed full of antioxidant and is not only great for flushing out toxins but also helps to soften dry skin, boost brain functionality, bolster your immune system and prevent infections. Mix a jug of tap or purified water with a handful of fresh blueberries and 2 oranges (with peel, sliced). Add ice and leave to infuse for at least an hour.
Note: You can also muddle the blueberries a little bit before adding them to the water or squeeze the juice of an additional orange into the water. This will give you a stronger taste.
3. Mint, Lime & Raspberry Water
This tremendous trio is great for improving digestion and is packed with antioxidants. Flush out those toxins from your kidneys, liver and colon by adding a handful of raspberries (fresh or frozen), a handful of fresh mint leaves and a medium sized lime (sliced) to a jug of water. Add ice and refrigerate before drinking.
Note: You can muddle the raspberries a bit if you want more flavour in your water. If you’re still struggling to drink water or want some bubbles try using sparkling water instead of still. The bubbles will give you that ‘carbonated drink’ fix and make you feel fuller for longer.
4. Strawberry, Lemon, & Basil Water
Strawberries are a bona fide superfood and are packed with antioxidants! Combining them with the detoxing powers of lemon and the stress-busting powers of basil will make for one super healthy drink! To make this delicious water just combine a jug of water, 1 cup of strawberries (chopped or thinly sliced), 1 lemon (sliced), and a handful of basil (chopped). Add ice and refrigerate for a few hours.
Note: Enjoy with still or sparkling water on a warm summer’s day. You can also squeeze the juice of an orange into the mix for a sweeter taste.
5. Watermelon & Mint Water
Watermelon is one of the best fruits you can add to water – that’s owing to the fact that it is packed with vitamins and minerals and helps to flush out your system. Combining watermelon with mint is a great way to aid digestion and even beat headaches or motion sickness! To make this fabulous drink just add a few cups of sliced watermelon (works best when chunked) and a handful of mint leaves to a jug of water. Top with ice and refrigerate for an hour or more.
Note: You can also muddle the watermelon a little bit of you want to achieve a punch taste.
6. Lemon, Grapefruit, Cucumber, Lime & Mint Water
This delicious and refreshing mix is great for slimming down and detoxing. The cucumbers will help decrease water retention while the lemons and limes will help to flush out toxins from your digestive tract. As for the grapefruit, well that will help you to burn fat! To make this delicious drink just take a jug of water and add ½ a medium grapefruit (sliced), ½ a cucumber (sliced), ½ a lemon (sliced), 1/2 lime (sliced) lime and a handful of mint leaves. Add ice on top and then refrigerate for at least an hour before drinking.
Note: instead of one big jug make a few jars of infused water and put them in the fridge for a great on-the-go fix!
7. Orange & Parsley Water
This might sound like an odd combo, but parsley is rich in vitamins which help to keep your immune system strong and flush out excess fluid from the body. Parsley can also help control your blood pressure! Combine it with orange for a delicious citrus kick! Just add half an orange (sliced) and a handful of parsley to a jug of water and refrigerate for a few hours before drinking.
